CNH Social – Find out how the program works

Among government programs, CNH Social is a subject that interests many Brazilians. Having your driver's license is, without a doubt, a form of freedom. That's because there's nothing like being able to go wherever you want and whenever you want without needing someone else's willingness. However, the cost of obtaining a license often prevents the population from accessing it.

Thus, through this benefit, free access to licenses is offered to people with low income. In this article we will explain how the program works and the reader will be able to answer all their questions about the free CNH Social. Since, as it is an assistance benefit, not everyone can make use of it.

Finally, it is important to highlight that not all Brazilian states offer the popular driver's license. However, the program is growing and, since the Federal Government implemented it in 2011, thousands of beneficiaries have realized their dream of having a driver's license.

What is the CNH Social 2022?

As we have already stated, the CNH Social program has existed for 11 years, starting in 2011. Furthermore, it has always had the same objective, to help people with low incomes have democratic access to a driver's license. Thus, it is not only possible to obtain a license for free, but also to renew it, including changing categories.

The program is essential for many people. This is because there are millions who live below the poverty line. Therefore, those who are unable to pay the fees find the popular driver's license a chance to obtain a license. However, there are some rules to guarantee this right to citizens.

Therefore, being low-income is not enough to meet the criteria. Therefore, to use the benefit, you must meet all the requirements. In addition, there are also cases of ties between candidates. Therefore, to solve the problem, the system takes into account some tiebreaker criteria.

Who is entitled to a Social CNH?

As already mentioned, not just anyone with a low income can enroll in the program. Therefore, to be entitled to the 2022 Social CNH, the person must meet certain characteristics, including being over 18 years old, unemployed for more than a year and being literate, that is, knowing how to read and write.

In addition to these, we can also highlight other requirements such as being a beneficiary of at least one of the government's social programs, for example, Auxílio Brasil, having a monthly income not exceeding 2 minimum wages, being registered in the Single Registry of Caixa Econômica Federal, known as as CadÚnico.

Finally, people with disabilities, small rural farmers and public school students are also eligible to apply for a vacancy. However, it is worth noting that, in the case of students, only those who show good academic performance are entitled to apply for the Social CNH.

What do you need to register?

The well-known State Department of Traffic (DETRAN) is the body responsible for issuing driver's licenses. In this sense, it is the same body that registers free driver's licenses, that is, CNH Social. Although it is also possible to register with SEST/SENAT (Social Transport Service and National Transport Learning Service).

To register, you must have the following documents:

  • Photo ID;
  • CPF;
  • Proof of residence, for example, water or electricity bill, from the same state in which the benefit is requested;
  • Proof of income, not only for the person applying, but for everyone who lives with them;
  • Registration number of the social program you are part of;
  • If you are a student, your current academic record.

Therefore, when you register, your application will be evaluated by the team responsible for the program. It is necessary to highlight that each state of the federation has a certain number of places available for the benefit, so it is important to check the website where you register, there will be this information.

States that are part of the program

As we have already informed, not all states are active in the program. Therefore, some federative units are not yet part of the vacancy offer. In this sense, only 13 of the Brazilian states and the Federal District are on the list, remembering that, in some places, the program suffers from name variations.

The active states are Amazonas, Bahia, Ceará, Distrito Federal, Goiás, Pará, Espírito Santo, Maranhão, Paraíba, Minas Gerais, Roraima, Rio Grande do Norte, Pernambuco and Rio Grande do Sul. Highlights include São Paulo and Mato Grosso do Sul , in which the CNH Social project is being processed in the legislative assemblies of these states.

The program is expected to benefit more than 5 thousand people per year, in categories A, B and AB. Finally, if you are interested in finding out more about the benefit aid-Brazil, I leave here an article on the subject.
